Work by cooperative corners

Today we want to present you the work for Cooperative Corners.
Work corners are a very useful pedagogical tool for developing learning. We organize the classroom in different spaces within the class where you can find various materials with which they can carry out the activities. Working through corners means believing in a cooperative, creative and flexible methodological option where children can observe, experience, discover and develop hypotheses through different activities in each of the spaces. This methodology promotes autonomy, activates thinking by developing skills and abilities, and enhances multiple intelligences. The objectives of the cooperative corners are:
  • Develop habits of personal and social autonomy.
  • Be aware of your abilities and possibilities.
  • Show initiative in planning and sequencing one's own action.
  • Stimulate logical reasoning and deduction from experimentation.
  • Develop verbal language and other forms of expression.
  • Foster peer relationships in everyday situations.

The day begins with the assembly, where the "secretaries" put on their medal and do their work: they will be in charge of seeing what day it is, the month of the year, the season they are in, what's the weather like, go through the list, point out the menu of the day... and a lot of other things. At the time of the assembly, the corners and what can be found in each work corner are also explained.
Then each child takes his key and leaves to find a place in the corner. Some courses go with their "TWIN" and others, like those of P3, go "alone". They come to the corner and attach their key to the velcro that is left empty. If they find that all the velcros are occupied, they must leave to find a corner where it is free. In the process, they also have to mark their attendance with a cross on the attendance checklist and do whatever activity is in the corner. Once the set time has passed, they pick up the corner, and move on to the next corner they need to complete.
Children enjoy and, most importantly, develop a new way of learning that helps them to build a new way of working as well.
