Center's Digital Strategy
Padre Damián Sagrados Corazones School
Devices, software, tools and applications
In order to provide teachers and students with communication and management tools and to improve the learning process with digital resources, the school has a set of devices and software that are listed in the following document (pending update).
School teachers may have the following digital devices:
- Laptop or desktop computers: These devices are essential for teachers to prepare material, conduct research, create presentations, and access classroom management tools.
- Tablets: Tablets are portable and tactile devices that allow teachers to access educational resources, take notes and mark student work in a more interactive way.
- PDI projectors and interactive digital whiteboards in classrooms that allow teachers to project multimedia content and interact with their classes, facilitating viewing and collaboration.
- Printers and scanners: Printers and scanners are important tools for teachers as they allow them to print educational materials and digitize physical documents for archiving or use in presentations.
- Speakers in classrooms: These devices are useful for playing audio or listening to multimedia content in the classroom, whether for presentations, educational videos or interactive activities.
- Many teachers use their smartphones to access management applications, check lists, make notes, take quick notes, capture images or videos for educational purposes, and communicate with students and parents.
Students at the school can use a variety of digital devices:
- Laptop or desktop computers: Students, depending on their age, use computers to complete academic tasks, work on projects, research, write assignments and access online educational resources.
- Tablets: Tablets are popular among students for their portability and ease of use. They can use them to read digital books, take notes, access educational applications and perform study-related tasks.
- The school also has a good number of robots, adapted to the different stages. Using educational robots can be an interactive and hands-on way to learn various concepts, such as programming, problem solving, mathematics or physics.
- Calculators: Depending on the educational level, students can use scientific calculators to perform advanced mathematical calculations.
- Smartphones: Many students have smartphones, which they can use to perform quick searches, take notes, access educational applications, take pictures, record audio and use the full potential of these devices always with the supervision of teachers teachers
School students depending on their stage can use a variety of other digital devices and infrastructures:
- The school has a distributed and balanced WIFI connection in three networks: students, teachers, administration and secretary. The proxy server allows content filtering, allows blocking access to certain unwanted websites or content types, also manages the Cache, has security features such as virus and malware detection and monitoring and reporting of user activity.
- Two high-volume printers with scanners and smaller ones are available to the teaching staff.
- Two 3D printers, a cutting printer, turn the Sala da Vinci into a true Lab Maker
- Using 3D glasses can provide an immersive and enriching experience in certain educational activities. 3D glasses allow students to view images or videos in 3D, which provide a sense of depth and realism.
Teachers and students at school can use a variety of software, tools and applications for various educational, communication and management purposes:
- The ClickEdu educational platform allows us to communicate with families, the daily management of absences, delays and incidents, all academic aspects of grades, records, observations, and also financial management.
- Google's WorkSpace for Educations provides us with communication tools by e-mail, Chat, Meet, a virtual learning environment such as Classroom, and other functionalities such as Google Documents, Spreadsheets, Presentations, Calendars, Drive etc. . all Cloud services that allow us to carry out management and academic tasks in an easy and safe way.
- We also have licenses for teachers and students for Windows and to use Microsoft 365 solutions: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Team, OneDrive, etc.
- For learning programming and coding we use various tools and platforms such as Scratch, App Inventor 2, Python, colab.research.google.com, Code.org Lego Mindstorms. These tools allow students to explore programming logic, robotics, and develop problem-solving skills.
- Augmented Reality (AR) or Virtual Reality (VR) Applications: Using AR and VR applications and tools, students can explore virtual and augmented environments that provide immersive and interactive experiences.
- Subject-specific platforms and applications: Science Bits in physics, chemistry and biology, Innovamat in mathematics, are platforms that offer class content and activities. There are other specialized applications such as Geogebra that offer interactive tools for exploring and understanding mathematical concepts, such as graphs, geometry and algebra.
