Charity shopping for Christmas

As every year, in December we did the Christmas Campaign. At each stage we have asked you for different types of products to be able to provide for families who do not have resources and are suffering from a really hard situation. Through this campaign we collaborate with various entities in order to help the people who need it most, such as: the Open Center Joan Salvador Gavina Foundation, Càritas, Més Humans, the Community of Sant Egidi, the Cedre Foundation , parishes and soup kitchens...

The 4th, 5th and 6th years of Primary Education participate in a special way in this campaign. Instead of bringing the products to school, they bring the money they want to collaborate with and it's the children themselves who make the purchase. This is our "solidarity purchase" project.

Groups are formed with students from all three years, encouraging peer learning and giving them the opportunity to enrich each other. The first thing that is done is to count the total amount of money collected and it is distributed equally between each of the groups. Then, each group must plan the purchase based on the money they have and taking into account the type of product they have to buy. Finally, the expected day arrives: each group goes with its list and its cart to make its solidarity purchase.

We have been carrying out this project for a few years now. We like it because it's a good way to make students actively participate, as well as working on such an important value as solidarity.
