Global Yoga Congress 2018

The school hosts the 2nd edition of the Global Yoga Congress, a world reference for the discipline

The school hosted the second edition of the last weekend. Global Yoga Congress (GYC) by Cacaolat Veggie, one of the main international yoga meetings in Spain. More than 90 of the greatest yoga teachers from around the world have gathered in a unique event: it is one of the most outstanding internationally in the city, consolidating Barcelona as the yoga capital of southern Europe.

"For the school, hosting an event of this magnitude is relevant. We are pioneers in incorporating yoga into the school schedule in order to promote relaxation, good breathing, correct postures and mindfulness. In the society we live in, we believe that it is very important to work on these values. In organizational terms, we have facilities that we like and the privileged location within Barcelona encourages initiatives like this to choose our spaces", explained Chesca Marfà, director of the school.

Jordi Canela, co-founder of Yoga One by DIR and founder of GYC, also referred to the event as a reference. “Our goal is to bring yoga closer to all audiences with the best national and international teachers. To turn this discipline that brings us so many benefits and that is increasingly gaining more followers into a celebration, facilitating its knowledge for those who do not know it and promoting the growth of this lifestyle that is so necessary today in the West,” he said.

The congress, in addition to yoga classes, has offered meditation classes, conferences, workshops, classes for children and families and talks. The most recognized international teachers in their style have been the soul of the congress. Teachers from different lineages who have dedicated their lives to exploring this discipline have shared their knowledge in a single location with different spaces. Andrei Ram, Yoshio Hama, Cristi Christensen, Jordi Canela, Ambra Barro, Fabio Filippi, Gustavo Plaza, Camilo Garcia, Simon Park, or Alexis Simon are some of the greats of yoga who have passed through the school in recent days.
